Developer Advocate

In a Nutshell
We are looking to hire a community team consisting of a community manager, developer advocate, ambassador program manager, and community insights roles. Together we are tasked to build a world-class global community of Spryker users, contributors, and advocates that accelerate the transition towards sophisticated transactional business models.

The community team has a focus on the outer (non-employee) community and aligning/collaborating with several departments within Spryker.

To complement the team, we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, passionate developer advocate. If you understand the nuances of how software is built, can inspire in-person and online audiences and can work across different communities and departments, we would love to hear from you.
Your challenges
Developer advocates wear many hats to win the hearts and minds of software teams. You will be the person that ensures that members have a fun, rewarding, engaging community experience. You’ll foster and build networks with developers, devops, engineering managers, and more. You will work closely with our community director, engineering, and product teams to help us present our products in the highest impact way possible. You’ll enable a broader community of technologists across events, content, media, campaigns, and more. 
We want someone who can really understand the needs of our outer developer community, serve them, and build a relationship. New and prospective customers and community members will depend on you to help them truly understand the value we offer, and how they can harness it. This work will play a critical role in the broader success of the company.

Typical activities for this role include:

  • Providing engagement and outreach focused on growing the Spryker developer community and empowering them to generate value and do great work
  • Building relationships within the industry and developer community to be their representative for Spryker in helping to engage, be successful and deliver great work and collaboration
  • Creating and optimizing the community onboarding experience for new developers
  • Identify opportunities within our community for activities that foster engagement, such as co-created content, events, meetups, webinars, and more. Provide a platform for community member recognition
  • Stimulating our developer community to “level up” and certify, with help of our academy team
  • Aggregate and analyze community feedback, advocate on their behalf within the company, and make sure these are followed up on
  • Working with product, engineering, and marketing teams to help support your and their success
  • Being a Spryker representative and spokesperson at conferences, events, and within the media and external communities
  • Integrating company brand, voice, and messaging into developed content and representing that brand well
  • Being active in related communities and platforms to help foster collaboration and relationships with other communities and organizations
  • Initiate and drive our own developer events and provide a stage for our community members
  • Help develop community ambassadors
  • Always challenging our assumptions, our culture, and being singularly focused on delivering the very best developer community experience in the world
Your profile
Experience with the following is required:
  • 3+ years of experience in developer relations, advocacy or community building.
  • Eloquence (and self-confidence) in both written and spoken English language is a must
  • Experience with working in technology and other online communities.
  • Excellent public speaking and content development skills.
  • Facilitating complex and sensitive community situations with humility, judgment, tact, and humor.
  • Working independently and autonomously, managing multiple competing priorities.

Experience with any of the following preferred:
  • 5+ years of experience leading community advocacy programs.
  • Prior developer experience.
  • Existing network from a diverse set of communities and social media platforms.
  • Experience in E-commerce and/or modern web technologies
